Finding a travel buddy is a good way to get somebody to have your holiday with. Clearly people travel for all kinds of different reasons and so you will have to try and choose wisely. A lot of people travel with friends that they already know. This may, however, not be possible due to the interests of the people concerned and their availability. You may also think that going on holiday with your relatives or existing friends is not for you
One way to get around this problem is to register with a web site that specialises in matching up travel partners. One such example is Mango Tree or Gumtree. here you can search for people by destination or who live in your local area. You can also post details of your travel plans and create and join a travel group. Buddies4travel is an example of a similar site which is for Women travelers only. This site deals with matching people up for travel within the UK and overseas.
You can also advertise in the local press for people to travel with. Both the web sites and local adverts can come up with suitable people for traveling. It would be wise to take quite a long time to try and get to know these people before you set off on a trip. You really have to know that you can depend on them. If they live locally then you can obviously arrange to socialise on a regular basis and check that your personalities and interests do at least match a little.
Even with the ideas listed above their can be problems. A lot of the people involved in travel are more interested in extended visits to places. They are usually interested in seeing as many different places as possible and basically traveling to see the world. Don't get me wrong, there is no problem in people doing this but you have to be sure that this is what you want as well. There are numerous cases where people traveling together for long periods may end up splitting up. Problems can occur over different interests, personalities or money. If you are after a relaxing time in just one place this might not be for you.
